Pure stock, straight off the dealer's floor, I'd have to say the Kawasaki Vulcan Nomad. I purchased one brand new in 2000, and rode it almost 25,000 miles, with nothing added except for a set of highway pegs and a throttle lock. It was a great bike for highway traveling, and we were able to ride several 750-mile days on it, but it had a small gas tank and wasn't the greatest handling bike in the mountains.

My current BMW K1200LT is by far the most comfortable motorcycle I have even owned, but I had to spend quite a few extra $$$ on it to make it that way. It has custom-built seats and special design foot-pegs that are adjusted to fit the way I like to ride. The electronic cruise control and heated seats/hand grips also make it more comfortable for long-distance traveling, while the stereo and CD player helps the time pass while buzzing down Interstate highways. The big Beemer also has a larger gas tank, and I can go nearly 300 miles between fuel stops.

Actually touring bikes, such as the Harley's, are not necessarily as comfortable tourers as you might think. It's all about weight distribution. I'm not dissing HD's (I own one and love it) but I also own a Honda 919 (what some call a naked bike), and I'd pick the Honda over the Harley if I had to ride more than 400 km (250 miles) in a day.

EFI 2005 Road King, but isn't real exciting on tight curved mountain roads. I have a FXDBI Harley Davidson. It's more fun in terms of taking tight curves and hauling ***! If I need to travel 800 miles a day, I'll take the road king. Road king looks way better than Electra Glides or Honda Gold Wings.

Moto Guzzi California.
Some people say riding certain bikes (especially Harleys) is like "riding on a couch." Well, riding my Moto Guzzi is like riding an extremely comfortable and responsive motorcycle!

Honda Goldwing, hands down. I rode a HD for years, ended up pi@@ing blood if I rode to long, now I ride my Wing from central IL to central Florida and smile at the end.

I would have to say my HD RoadKing. Have also ridden an older Yamaha Venture....very comfortable, but the HD handles better.
