Haha, well, I don't think they're evil or vicious, but the game with the Netherlands was a heated contest, and both teams went at each other, knowing the loser would be out of the cup. Some of the plays were rough, but when you consider how much both team has put into the tournament, and how badly each wants it, I think the way the game played out made sense. And anyways, I don't know what else the ref could do! He gave out 12 yellow cards and 4 red cards! How can you control a game if giving out cards doesn't intimidate players, and make them play safer? What would you have done to control the game??

Not at all. They play just like everyone else. If you're going by POR/NED match, then that's BS. The ref dictates the pace of the game and he ruined what looked to be a good football match. Have you noticed that following that match, there have been significantly less yellows/reds for fouls which were equal or more harsh than in those match? Portugal couldn't play the free-flowing football that we're used to seeing but still managed to win. Credit to the team, thumbs down to the ref.

NO BUT CULTURALLY LATINOS (YEAH AND I KNOW THEY HATE TO BE CALLED THAT...but the Portuguese, Spanish and ALL the teams from Mexico down are EXTREMELY passionate about Football..and if you foul them..you WILL get the retaliation foul...the question is ...how harsh is the foul in the eyes of the official..and how bad is it in our eyes... Portugal HAD to stand up to the Dutchies..and I think that they did well ..remember that the Dutch DID NOT LIKE the idea of being taken out by the same team 2 WCs in a row...it will be even worse if they match up in 2010...FIFA will put one of them on the opposite side of the bracket next year..
and yeah the russian official..is done..

No,look every team in the tournament wants to win,so each team will do what it needs to do to help themselves along.Teams play differently, some more aggressive than others.Yes you are right, the Portugese/Netherlands game did get out of hand, the ref was bad. I hope we've seen the last of him. May the best team win!!!

No. Both Portugal and Netherlands were playing rough in that game. I don't think they are worse than other teams.

dont blame the refs blame fifa 4 putting too much pressure on them to not tolerate discipline. I don't know why people think portugal are evil just bcoz of that one match alone. from my point of view it looked the dutch were the evil ones. trying to take out portugal dangerman cristiano ronaldo. and provoking other players to make them dive!!

heck no the only reason people would say that is because of "the motherland ref" as i like to call him... russia doesn't even have a team and that is probably why the ref called the game that way because he wishes he could be watching his team play!
