I'm baritone and this phenomenon especially occurs if I try to aim for the notes more than an octave and half from the middle C...
What actually goes wrong here? Lack of breath support?
What do you all suggest for me to avoid this crack once and for all?

Oh, sometimes I'm afraid to sing out loud in front of many people... what could I do to overcome this? Any nice suggestion on this?

Anyway, thanks for all of your feedback...

Like every instrument your voice has a limited range. You can use many techniques to achieve your fullest range. Honestly, if you really want to builds confidence in yourself and your instrument you should get a good vocal coach. Nothing I can tell you in words will help as much as being shown how to achieve your goals by someone who is an expert in how the voice works. You may still decide to keep your voice confined to to the shower but at least you'll fully enjoy listening to yourself.

By the way most men have a range that is limited to between 2 and 2.5 octaves. If you can really sing up or down 1.5 from mid C (3 full octaves) then you have an exceptional range. Learn how to control it and you could go pro.

A voice coach is a good idea. It could be expensive, but you can benefit from even a few lessons to teach you control. However, don't rule out a physical reason. My voice gave out on me a couple of years back. I found out one vocal chord had stopped working. It is slowly beginning to work again, but it will be a long while before I can sing decently.

Practice singing in a higher range more often. An octave and 1/2 is in the "tenor" range. If you have a "falsetto"...practice it more. Practice makes perfect.
