Do I need to freeze them first and for how long?

No you don't need to freeze them. We have a maple tree next to our garden and in the spring after the seeds fall from the tree we have maple trees come up all over the place. Where ever they fall if they have dirt they will come up. And soon after falling. I have to pull little trees from even my flower pots. So just plant them shallow where you want the trees and you should have trees up in no time.

Come to my house and you can have all the maple seedlings you could possibly want.

Just plant them. There's nothing you need to do to them. They can be planted green or dry.
