I am not sure of the solution but I can relate. I have an 01 Sunfire that I just had a new engine put in and I am doing more things to. When the new engine was put in I noticed that it idled around 650 rpm, when it previously was at 1000 rpms. I did replace all plugs and wires, I also replaced the cat converter and O2 censors. This could be a result. The car now has a problem stauling at red lights but I have noticed only after about 2 miles from sitting any further and there's no problem. I have to rev while braking in those situations to keep it from dying. I don't know. I have had 3 people look at it and scratch their heads. I can't even find anyone that knows if the idle can be adjusted or not. ??? I keep watching your question and maybe it can be answered for both of us.

If your only having a problem in park(not while driving) then it sounds very minor, a sputter most likely is fuel related(water, fuel presure, poor quality) also if your rev. engine in park, it has a rev. limiter to keep the engine from overreving that may cause damage. engine rpms will waver up and down even if you floor it, this is normal and you cant fix

the gap on your spark plugs may be set wrong take them out and readjust them to the proper gap (this info should be located in your operator book and or on the inside of the hood) you can also go to auto zone or anyplace like that and ask what the gap is those guys will even set the gap for you. one thing you should be mind-full of is that if the Manuel states use a wire spark plug Gage to set the gap use only that type.
