Well saying the ref gave Italy the game over Australia is a little unfair, that penalty was the only decision to go against Australia all day, not like a dodgy sending off.

Italy also had about 3 times as many shots as Australia and were by far the better side even when a man down, and if you dive in in the penalty area and miss the ball completely you are asking for trouble.

Italy will get to the semis because Ukraine are even worse than Australia.

The ref gave the Italians the game????? Blimey, did you see the same match as me??? The ref actually did his best to get the Australians to win by sending off an Italian for a foul that merited at worst a yellow card. Thus giving Australia the chance to have a whole hour at a ten man side. However, they never, ever, looked like scoring.... indeed if the match had been settled by unlimited extra time, I would say we could still be playing now and Australia still wouldn't have got past Buffon. Yes the offence in the penalty area was enhanced by a bit of theatrics, but in this World Cup you simply can't go to ground like that and miss the tackle.... by the look of your yahoo i.d., I can't imagine that you'd have been complaining had Harry Kewell (who, incidentally, dives more than any other premiership footballer I have seen in the last 5 years) gone down in the Italian box under similar circumstances, rather than being back in the hotel with gout (???)

I don't get how you can say the Italians cheated? What games have you people been watching? Its a little tough to lose when nobody can score on you!!
There's 2 parts to winning - scoring more than the other team, and not being scored on more than the other team. Seeing as NOBODY has been able to score, how can you honestly say that Italy doesnt deserve to be where they are?
Cheating - what cheating??? They were fouled left right and centre there were no calls. I think that ref actually did a great job.
So people - watch the games with a bit of impartialness. Brazil has allowed goals. England has allowed goals. The Germans have allowed goals. Italy has not (only an own goal). They deserve their position as much as any of those so called top teams.

Skippy, you have a one sided thought on this game. You are bleeding with sorrow right now. Your sense of fairness is distorted for the love of your Australian team. You clearly do not understand the game. For one, there was a red card issued to the Italians. I thought that was not a fair call, at least not a red. The Italian defense suffocated the Australian attack and they could not win with an extra man on the field!!!!! Lucas Neill slid in the box near Grosso. Now anyone who knows anything about this sport knows......you do not go down in the box!!!! If you get called on, it will be a penalty kick. Lucas Neill was not to bright at this moment. He should have never gone down. A foul was called, IN THE BOX, therefore a penalty kick was awarded to the Azzuri.

I'd like to also say that the Autralians are not exactly choir boys. Ask any Japanese or Croatian fan. The Japanese have called them the dirtiest players.

So get off your one sided view and look at it from an impartial view. Stop your crying and stop your insulting of the Italian team.

i dont think further at all. I think the whole world knows their schemes and little tricks and I think if they try and pull something like this again, they'll earn themselves a more negative reputation.
