First undo the trap underneath the sink. most of the time the trap is where the problem is because residue builds up. If that's the problem, than you can either clean it or buy a new one.
If that's not the problem then run a snake through the drain with the trap off. You can also pour some liquid plumber down it with hot water if necessary.

Blocked sinks are a pain and also a fact of life.

They build up usually through food residue that doesn't go all the way down and blocks back.

The best way to clean a sink and make it drain quicker is to get a plunger.

Fill the sink above the plunger line with cold water, then undo the plug. Plunge vigorously over the plug and the debris and material will be lifted out by the vacuum.

I often get clogs in my shower and I always either use Drano or Liquid Plumber. They seem to work about the same to me and they both work great. All you have to do is buy a bottle of Drano or Liquid Plumber that is for unclogging clogs in the bathroom or other areas (like kitchen sinks) then you pour the entire contents (if you get a small bottle) in the drain and let it sit for an hour. After an hour run some water and you will see that the clog is dissolved. Of course make sure if you have any pets to keep them away from it so they don't lick it and keep children away from the chemical, too. Always follow the intructions on the bottle. These products have both worked great for me, I always just bought the whichever one was cheaper.

Depends on how old your home is. If you have those old steel pipes they could be clogged for good and need replaced with PVC pipes.
Boiling water, bleach, Draino, Liquid Plummer and snakes will not work.
If you remove the old steel pipes, you will probably see a hard grease build up that looks like vasoline. Time to change to PVC pipes. If you rent, it's your landlords' responsibility.
Our house was built in the 1930's. We had to replace the pipes in the kitchen and bathroom sinks.
The best place to check is the pipe going into your main line. It's that big old ugly thing that comes up out of your basement floor and goes all the way up to your roof.
Good Luck and be careful. Those old pipes are known to break off at the male fittings because of the rust.

The easiest and most effective is to remove the P-trap under the sink. It sometimes can be done by hand if not to old. It is the U shaped pipe connected to drain, used to hold water so sewer gases can't come out. So put a bucket or bowl under. If you have to use wrench usually comes off easy. You'll be surprised by all that is "trapped" in there. Good Luck.

THE best and safest way is:

Get some water boiling on the stove....get some vinegar, white or cider, makes no difference and a big box of baking soda.

Put some of the baking soda down the drain, add the vinegar, enjoy the fizzing. Rinse with the hot water, repeat until it runs clear. Some gross stuff MAY bubble up, but that is what was clogging your drain! this works EVERY time and works for the bathtub too. AND it makes it smell nicer too.
good luck!

It realy depend on the type and size of the sink to be unblocked. There are many tools available for the application depending on the requirement.

sounds weird but pour some hydrogen peroxide down the drain then add a splash of bleach. Make sure your window is open or fan is on and don't stand right on top of it. H2O2 + Cl2 = water (H2O), Oxygen (O2) and hydrocloric acid (HCL) the acid will burn through the clog and the water and oxygen will cause the whole thing to foam like a foaming pipe cleaner.
This works fantastically.
When the drain starts working again, flush thoroughly with warm water

I'm a plumber. A plunger clears 90% of all the sink clogs I encounter. Most people use a plunger incorrectly. You aren't trying to push out the clog. Try to establish a vacuum and pull out the clog. BTW I tell all my customers to avoid chemical drain cleaners.

Obviously, it looks like, you have no way to reach the blocked location. So, allow it to dry , so that the blockage shrinks a bit, then pour good a cleaning liquid that 'dislodges' the dirt that stuck to the blocked area, and drains it along. There are many cleaning liquids available, which also contains some acid like substances which break down the thickness of the 'block', and reduce its size to allow it to get drained. Good luck !
