Of course, this is just an opinion, but rain is good! That's why it's known as the Emerald City... =)
But, even more important to consider are the cost of living and traffic. These are the two things I hear most often as complaints about Seattle. (I am an Oregonian). I've been there, it really is a beautiful, thriving city! Minutes (and I mean *minutes*) away from the some of most beautiful places in the whole country. You have to weigh the pros and cons and decide for yourself if the cost and traffic are worth it. It may be better to live in a nearby smaller community rather than in Seattle proper.

What really counts as a cloudy day? clouds in the sky but the sun is out also. Perception and reality are different.

Moved to Seattle from Chicago a few months ago. Does rain alot but not as much as most people make it out to be. Its cloudy alot in the winter part. But for the last couple weeks it has been beautiful. In 50's at night so great for sleeping and 70's - 80's during the day. Mild weather all year. And soooo much outdoor stuff t do and see. Beautiful state.

I've grown up and now live in Michigan but I spent 9 months near Seattle. The climate was very much the same except for the rain. Personally I always felt damp and cold. If rain doesn't bother you, then go. The scenery is amazing and the people are very friendly even in downtown Seattle. It's an extremely diverse area and there's a niche for everyone. I'll definitely go back to visit someday.

It doesn't rain here nearly as much as people believe. At about 36 inches annually, we get less rain than dozens of US cities. The difference is that New Orleans, for example, gets a lot of it's rain in a short period of time, whereas Seattle gets lighter, drizzly rain over about nine months of the year. Even when it's dry, we see frequently overcast skies. But, when the sun comes out, Seattle and its environs are beautiful and clean and green.
I think it's a great city to live in. Housing pricies are relatively high, but there are lots of good employment opportunities here. And there's lots to see and do, especially if you're outdoorsy at all.

the suicide rate is not the highest in washington, believe it or not washington has one of the highest rates of skin cancer. okay it does not rain, that much many other states get a lot more rain. if you are into nature type things then seattle would be a really nice place to live. we have the olympic mountains to the west, more mountains to the east with good skiing, the puget sound, lakes, and rivers to swim, fish, boat in. state parks everywhere with camping spots, good biking trails, and a lot of other things, but i focused on the nature type things to do. on the tsunami poster, seattle isn't a direct risk for a tsunami as it lies in an inlet, from the ocean the only way a tsunami would happen is from a massive landslide to the west, or an earthquake happening in the inlet. but any city who is near water has a possibilty of a tsunami.

ummm hello I live in Boston, have you seen how much rain we got. I think they said this morning we got 9 times as much rain then Seattle did last month. Month of June alone it rained I think 15 of the 27 days!
But I also hear that Seattle is one of the best places to live. The city is becoming popular thus jobs etc, plus it's got a great public transportation system. All depends on what matters to you.

The Seattle area is a beautiful area. It does rain a lot and is overcast through much of fall and winter which lasts roughly from late October through March. Heavy rain can happen in September but from late April through mid September, it is pretty sunny and pleasant. We seldom get snow and if we do, it is wet and doesn't stay on the ground long. Because it is overcast in wintertime, some people do suffer from seasonal affective disorder; I'm one of them. If you're active though and are able to be outdoors, that helps. You will find people from all over the world as in the majority of US cities which makes it a tolerant place.

Seattle is my home-away-from-home. I think that it is one of the cleanest, most beautiful cities I have ever seen, and there is plenty to see and do.
And to clear something up about the rain, yes, it rains a lot. BUT, one thing you have to consider is that many days, it will rain for 15 min. at 4:00AM, and for statistical reasons, it is considered to have rained that day. So, when you hear that it rains 200 days in one year, remember that not all of those days are torrential rainstorms. In fact, my husband who is from Seattle but who now lives with me in Iowa thinks that it rains much more and much harder here because it is a rare occurrance to experience a severe thunderstorm.
Weather aside, it's a lovely place and a beautiful part of the country. I hope that you choose to move there and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I have.

It rains a lot in the fall/winter. It hardly ever snows. The average temparture during the summer is the low to mid 80's. But the last few days, we've gotten up to the 90's, which is very rare. Cost of living is low. The only bad thing is that I hate the traffic and I hate driving on I-5.
Hope that helps.
