but every yr. we have huge wild fires burning out west.... it kinda seems like these guys could go and drill for water and put in fire hydrents out in the woods strategicly placed and when there is a fire they could air drop the firefighters and a hose to help out from the ground, cant be any more expenvsie then the way theydo it now ... silly thought... I know but had to ask...

That's not a stupid proposal. However, it will be too expensive...fire hydrants are attached to the city water pipes. There are no water pipes in the forests, they will have to lay them. Thats costly.

The huge areas that burn are rarely the same in any one ten year period. Running hoses more than a mile by hand would be extremely problematic. To not do it by hand would require roads. And you would also have to maintain the wells. In short we are fighting wild fires the economic way

Actually it doesn't sound stupid, makes sense to me. Another thing that could be done is to let people clear away the brush. That is what is causing the fires to be so huge and last so long. The tree huggers have got the brush clearing stopped and it's just an inferno waiting to happen.

Fires are necissary and allow for the rejuvenation of the wilderness areas. It is a natural process that clears out the brush. It is good to have them.

Remember that they are ALLOWED to burn. They are not "out of control" as you might think, although sometimes they get out of control, for the most part the forest service knows what they are doing and controls it.

I would say the main reason is that there is much, much too large of an area to cover.

they wouldnt be able to reach the fire hydrances if there was fire around them.
