prep the toilet

fish are stupid you have to have right temp in the water and the right Ph Balance. A filter and some fish to eat algea is good too.

Where did you buy them. Most places have a guarantee of some sort. Try to save it with plenty of air stones. If you cant then check into the guarantee at the store you got them at. I would recommend a thurough cleaning of the tank and everything in it first. Then before you get more fish set the tank up and run it (just like if there were fish in it) for a minimum of two weeks. At that point test all your levels and be sure that they are all good. Then go get one or two fish at the most and see how they do. I hope your little fish lives but if it doesn't dont flush it. Take it outside and bury it by a tree. As it decomposes it will fertilize the tree and it wont have died in vain.

Take the dead fish back to the fish store. They should give you new fish because chances are the ones they sold you were sick...but first, check the temp in the aquarium, check the PH, make sure you you use the chlorine remover, in other word, you didn't just plop some water into a fish tank and toss in fish did you, because if you did, chances are excellent that your ignorance of caring for an aquarium killed them. If you are pretty good at keep aquariums already, have your water tested. And don't forget, when you get the new fish to put the plastic bag with the fish into the aquarium, floating at the top for a half hour or so. this allows the temp in the bag to slowly match that temp of your aquarium. When the fish is put in then, it is not so much a shock to the system. Best of luck with the fish (BTW, if fish are on top of or near a microwave or TV, even a new one, move the aquarium)

Your fish are dying of temperature shock. Next time leave your fish in the plastic bag from the store. Place the bag with the fish inside and float the bag in the tank. Leave the bag alone for two hours so the temp in the bag is the same temp as in the tank. Then release the fish from the bag.

Also don't use fresh tap water for your tank. Fill the tank with tap water and let it sit for 3 days. This allows the chlorine to leave the tank and then introduce the fish slowly in a bag like I just said.

There's a lot to a fish tank. But it can be really easy.

If you just started your tank, try a product called CYCLE. It's a liquid in a bottle. There are spikes in the water's chemistry that start a tank off. It can be really harmful to a fishy - and usually is if you are uneducated about starting a tank.

There are many factors including tank size, what you're feeding, how you're adding them to the tank.. email me if you want and we can discuss this stuff. It can be really easy and your fish can live a really long time.

Don't feel too bad about the fish passing away. Just make sure that you learn something before you go buy more ok? Learn from your mistakes and share with others! It will make you feel great about yourself.

Obviously a water problem, set your tank up, feed a little food to the empty tank, then leave for a few days before adding more fish. If you clean your tank, don't do a 100% water change, and clean the filter in old water (before throwing it away) 'Fraid the only thing you can do now is put the fish in clean water (try distilled water) with plenty of aeration and hope this works...

Either let nature take its course or euthanize the poor thing.

There are two ways that I euthanize my fish. Both are guaranteed to be painless and quick. The first is, I take a bucket and fill it with COLD water. Then I add a couple of ice cubes. Then, say a prayer, net the fish, and place him in the ice water. He should be gone in less than a minute.

The other way is to take a dish of water (any temperature will do), and add a teaspoon of clove oil. Mix it up, say a prayer, net the fish, and place him in the mixture. He should pass within two minutes or so.

I'm sorry to hear about your fish, and I hope you don't give up on fish-keeping as a result of this. It really is an enjoyable and rewarding hobby.

Good luck.

build a really small coffin and move on.....

Im not sure what kind of fish you're buying but perhaps your doing something wrong. Is the water good in the tank? If its tap water, you may need to buy some chemicals from your pet store to eliminate the clorine they put in tap water. Also, when you bring the fish home in those little baggies, put the whole bag in the water for awhile to let the water temp in the bag get to the same temp as the aquarium as to not shock the fish from temperature change.
and if that still happens, buy fish somehwere else.

Something is wrong with either your tank or the fish you bought. If it's a fresh water tank, buy a cheap feeder goldfish, if that dies something is definitely wrong with your tank. If ti's a saltwater tank you have to check the pH balance. Some fish are very sensitive to their environment.

And if the fish is small enough flush it in the toilet, otherwise bury it in the backyard, or give it the ziplock bag-->trash disposal.

Learn how to take care of fish properly so maybe you can save him. When you first get fish you can't just throw them in a tank and expect them to live. If the tank isn't cycled their feces will cause the ammonia to rise which will kill them. And that's probably why they died and the other is dying.
