True communication occurs when two or more parties openly, willingly and without judgment share ideas, thoughts or beliefs. Each person is obligated to confirm their understanding or lack of understanding as to what the other parties are attempting to communicate. This insures true two way (three, four way, what ever the situation calls for) communication.

If it is a one way process - then it is called "information" and not communication. While information is "giving out", Communication is "getting thro". When you convey some data to other or others, ensure - whether what they have understood is same as what u have intended to be understood by them.
If you want to convey the number 4 to the person at receiving end, say in concrete terms "four" and never make them do calculations and mental work - by just saying 1+3 or 2+2 or 3+1 or 16/4 - etc - since the person at receiving end may not be as good as you in maths. This is only an example. So after telling 4 in no uncertain terms, ask him or her - what is the thing you told and ensure that (s)he also reflects it correctly.
