My former employer is suing a fellow employee after leaving his company and several clients went with him. This employee has contacted me and asked for me to write a deposition on how horrible our boss was.

you write a letter like a story and describe how horrible your boss was. say what he did, maybe even how it made you feel and stuff like that. Try to keep it organized. List each seperate incidence in it's own paragraph. You can write whatever but the better it's written and how convincing it is the more it will help your friend.

Well, you can't. A deposition is typically prepared from your testimony in the presence of the attornies from both sides of a dispute, and is done by a certified court recorder.

You can write a nasty opinion position paper, and have your signature notarized.

Then, your former employer can sue you, too - for slander, etc.

You don't have a dog in this fight - I'd stay away - you can only hurt yourself.

What they are asking for is an affidavit, which is a written statement of facts sworn to before a notary. A deposition is testimony given pre-trial before a court reporter with both attorneys present.
