I had Vonage for about 2 weeks and it was awful. The phone was always crackling. When we called to cancel it, there was a cancelation fee of $135. It's not worth it.

I use a similar service called "Sunrocket" - it's about $2.00 per month cheaper than vonage, and has all of the features of your home telephone.
Is it worth it? HELL YES! I paid about $190.00 (which pre-paid the entire year of service) last September and received two Uniden phones, their "modem", and haven't seen a phone bill since then. My SBC bill always came in at about $200-250 per MONTH, so you can already see the difference.
The only drawback is when the cable goes down, so do the phones. But that doesn't happen all that often, so I bear with it.
Definately the way to go for home telephone service. I'll never go back to "standard" phone service..

I use Vonage. Their customer service is horrible, but I am saving a ton of money, and mine works fine.
I am worried about the company though and whether they will be around. They lost a ton of money when they went public, but its worked great for me.

As long as you already have cable Internet or satellite Internet access. My bills have gone from about $60 per month to exactly $27.64 per month.
