i would like to think of it was a "spirit", but yes i have seen one. My great-grandmother was a huge part of my life, almost like a second mom and after she passed I saw her spirit. It was bedtime and i was having a hard time falling asleep and i felt something/someone moving me hair. When my grandma was alive she would always run her fingertips through my hair and sing "You are my sunshine". I looked up and she was sitting there at the edge of my bed running her fingers through my hair and humming that song. I think about it now and it just give me a real soothing feeling, i was surprised that it was scary at all, just a sense of peace and calm came over me.

At univerity we often had to leave the university campus and walk a short distance up the road to a large old 18th Century house for our seminars.

One day I happen to be the first in the building. I walk through the deserted entrance foyer and open the door to our seminar room. It's a high-ceilinged, grand room, but it is dark as the shutters are folded over the windows.

I switch the light switches down.
Nothing happens.
I turn them off and try them again.
Still darkness.

Frowning (And a bit spooked) I cross the room in the dark with the aim of pulling back the shutters to let in some light instead, but just at this point our tutor arrives.

She walks into the room and flicks on the light switches.
They all come on!

All sorts of bizarre things have happened to me but the scariest was in an office block I worked in.
I was along during the day there as it was being refurbished, every day once the workmen ahd left I would be alone for the last hour or so. One sunny June evening, it went ice cold in my office and every single door on the floor (it was a collection of small offices arranged in a horse shoe shape) slammed one after the other. This was after days and days of the light and fan coming on and off in the kitchen when no one was there.
Eventually I ran away (literally, never went back) after I heard voices in the conference room and I knew for a fact no one was there.
I have no explanation. The whole place was intimidating and I felt watched the whole time.

My house used to be an old dentist's surgery in victorian times when there were little or no anasthetics and people died all the time. Sometimes you can hear a low kinda breathing in what used to be the consulting room if you're there alone.

In our back garden, a man was crushed to death when he and a friend were carrying a big oak gate (still there now) and his friend let go for a second. It was too heavy for him and he was crushed. A couple of times, I've looked out of my window and have seen a kind of misty patch at the gate.

I work as a chef in a hotel which is hunted. One of the room was so active that they had to stop using it because the people who were mostly builders got so freaked out they will land land up sleeping in there vans.
also on busy night in the bar the pumps for the beer will switch off.

One time i was in the kitchen when a tray flu of the shelf right at me.

i was sitting one day in my living room and in the dining room i could hear my daughter talking to someone, so i sat very quietly listening and she was saying things like thats sad and i will miss you. I just thought she was playing then i heard her say thats a nice green dress your wearing but your blue one was better why arent you wearing that, so i went in and asked her who she was talking to, to which she replyed im talking to nannie and she is showing me her green dress.
i of course was a bit freaked out by this because her nan had passed away two weeks before hand and been cremated in her green nurses uniform, which none of us knew. esp my daughter who was only 4yrs old at the time and didnt even go to the funeral.
but she has always had "friends" like that we once taped her talking to a little girl in her bedroom and when we asked her about it she told us that the little girl was her friend cause she didnt have many, because she had no arms or legs due to an illness her mother had before she was born.
that one lasted for months, but she doesnt remember any of it now.

Here's one for the books. Early Dec. 2005, while wide awake, saw dark, shadowy man walk past me. My mother in law died 1 week later. May, 2006, saw it again and my dearest friend's mother died. June 2006, saw it again, my father in law died less than 2 weeks later. Saw it again 2 nights ago and am waiting to see who dies now. Ghost story? Creepy? Strange? Who knows? Just know it happened.
