Yes - they have been. The process is to bring them before the court to get them to reveal their sources (which most won't). When they don't, you stick their treasonous *sses in jail where hopefully a convict who has more character than they do does us all a favor and executes them for being a traitor.

Journalists have the right publish the news after the fact to keep use informed on subjects, When they print our nations secrets they are committing treason and should be prosecuted... Most of them are just trying to get their name in the news so they can publish a book at a later date.. They don't care how many people they hurt or get killed in the process all under the name of free speech .. The papers like the New York Time should be prosecuted for what they have done... STOP MAKING THE NEWS and just report what the reader needs to know..
Journalists, My farther all ways told me as a young boy that theirs people with the need to know things and those that didn't.. The people(us our government) still needed that information, the New York Times published they were still using it to protect our country our family our lives.. Now with everything out in the open what have we learned ? we learned the Government is protecting us. This is not news we all know the Government is here to protect the people regardless of our politics.. these papers need to get a life...

How do you know the new report undermines national security? Because Bush said so? Please! Thats what he said when the media reported on the wire-tapping incident. I don't see how this has adversely affected U.S. security.
If you like to be kept in the dark about issues, thats great for you, but please dont assume that everyone else shares your opinion. Personally I'd like to know if my conversations are being recorded, or if my bank records are being checked? Know why? because it's not unheard of for people to hack into GOVERNMENT COMPUTERS and STEAL INFORMATION, please see Veterans whose social security information was diplayed on the internet. Maybe you forgot that story.
Perhaps what you'd like to happen is if the government saved your bank data somewhere, lost your information, then on a trip to your ATM you found all your money gone.
I'm tired of people blaming journalists. When will you start blaming the government for overstepping their boundaries.

If our form of government was healthy, I'd say NO, absolutely not.

But our country is not healthy right now. It's been taken over by the Neocons, and their form of fascism. They continue their assult on our civil liberties in the name of fighting terrorism. That is such a load of crap! They want to turn us all into cowards and sheep. It is the ultimate cowardice to trade civil liberties for weapons to fight terrorism.

Soon they will take all forms of free speech away, thay have only just started. Imprisoning journalist for reporting about our governments' spying on us, The flag amendment, what will be next?

Yes. And they are glad. That means they can't be taken out at the drop of a hat and shot without a trial like some other countries.
