look for matte eyeshadows. max factor are pretty good but don't be tempted into buying a heavy foundation it will sit in the wrinkles. a tinted moisturiser can look better. in the UK no 7 by boots is excellent make up range for mature skin and has some softer muted shades. lighten up on blusher and go for a pale bronzer and lighter lipstick. the darker the colour the thinner your lips will look and your skin will look coarser. soft plums are the darkest or even a plum lip gloss to make the lips look plump. Don't be scared to experiment just keep the colours soft.

Being a women of almost 45 I can relate. After having my second child 8 years ago I noticed a big difference in my skin. The biggest problem with makeup application is moisture. If your skin is not properly moisturized or you are not exfoliating on a regular basis no matter what type, brand any type of makeup will not look good. It's like decorating a cake that is not properly prepared. If the canvas is bad the final look will not be satisfying.
However, after saying all of that, there is hope. If you would like to know about the products I use then by all means please contact me at aloettedb@yahoo.ca
If not get a good skin regime going and good make up preferably makeup with out talc in it as this will dry your skin further. Hope this helps, and hope to hear from you.

Try and use as little make-up as possible. Make sure you have a good skin care routine and moisturise often to keep your skin firm. Try and avoid foundation if possible or use a very lightweight one and use concealer for blemishes. Try to avoid eyeliner, using eyeshadow and a thin brush is much more flattering and wont pull the delicate skin on the eye. Don't overload on mascara and a soft flattering colour on the lips is usually best. Try some different looks and when you get comlimented on how well youre looking you'll know you've got it right. Good luck!! x

It depends on the type of makeup that you are applying. If it is thick, it would look hideous. First and foremost, you need to be on the products that smooth and firm your skin. As far as help with skin products and makeup, go to a department store cosmetic counter and ask for help. They can help you in choosing the right products.

I was a make-up artist for 6 years and in that time let me tell you I've seen all kinds of skin. The one thing I have always trusted no matter how young or old the skin is....is Guerlain compact bronzer #1!! I use it I'm 36 My mother in law uses it she is 60 my Grandma uses it and she just turned 90!! We use moisturizer (trick: oily/combo skin use a "lotion" dry skin use a "cream") then dust this stuff in the cheeks whatever is left over put everywhere else. Love it!! Mascara: YSL's reg. mascara, Benefit lip gloss any color watery not sticky great moisture. Also that Bare minerals foundation is so awesome! Oily or dry skin, young or old works great!!!

Revelon age defying ( i think thats the name), or Revelons make up for mature skin. The concealer is particularly good, doesn't sink in lines, but good coverage.
If you live in the UK, there is a range of skin care in Superdrug (the shop) called 'natural high' that does an instant radiance balm that makes your skin look smooth by 'radiant' (know that sounds cheesy, but it really works)! only about £3 as well!
put it under foundation. so good though, u might not need to use foundation.

I'm pretty sure that fundation days are over. I suggest Bare Minerals. You have to order it, but it lasts a really long time. It won't settle into wrinkles and it gives a glow. And eye liner souldn't be worn by older women. dusty shadows are all that are needed for older eyes.

Skin care...skin care....skin care is the best way to freshen up your skin and it will make you look like your are wearing your make-up NOT your make-up wearing you.
I find Mary Kay to have amazing skin care they even have turn back time products to reduce the signs of aging even clear the already seen signs of aging!

Have you tried the new make up brand, Radiance? I think that is for more mature skin, and won't make you look (as you put it) hideous.
