first disconnect the shut off switch then check to see if the coil wire pulled out of the coil if not its a bad coil. if it an old saw it might have points if it does then new points and condenser

Check the wire from the kill switch to make sure it isn't shorted to the frame . That would prevent the spark . Or the switch may be defective or stuck .

clean the air filter then try it if not that dump out the fuel out and put fresh fuel in and mix it right if it is a 2 cycle motor and then prime the motor if it has the gas builb on it and try it good luck!
