Yeah, Agatha Christie's stories are well known: the Miss Marple series or the Hercule Poirot stories. But I think "10 Little Indians" was probably her best known. I think also there are many others, from the Hardy Boys/Nancy Drew type of youth detectives, to the Dick Francis horse-racing series, to the Pink Panther comedy detective. Hornung's Raffles series was quite popular in past generations, but probably not so well-known anymore. There are lots of well-known detectives of various sorts.

After Sherlock Holmes,
Up until a few years ago the most well read and the most popular detective would be Dick Tracy.
The most popular novels and short stories would be the Agatha Christie Hercule Perot books.
That is unless you count Batman as a detective. Is you count Batman as a detective he would be the most popular.

before the comic was titled batman i was detective comics thats why now its just D.C and batman has been going since the 40's even before superman so that has to count for somthing.
