Great answers! I would only add that EFI allows for much better fuel control through the entire RPM range vs a carb. that is limited by the mechanicals involved. Carbs are usually set to accomplish an overall affect, which can either rob low-end torque or smooth acceleration. EFI permits the injectors to supply exactly what is needed when it is needed. And as mentioned, if aftermarket pipes are added, the curves must be reprogrammed. Good luck.

Efficiency, ease of starting, lower maintenance, more power....computerized OR mechanical injection are both great for engines, if you grew up on carburetors it's a little bit of an adjustment, but injector systems typically do pretty well. The non-plus-ultra is direct injection, most systems on cars at least have a throttle body injection system, which basically does the same job as a 'carb, but it's push-me instead of pull-you...positive pressure that forces the fuel in, instead of depending on vacuum. You can really trim out an injection system to be really really efficient, and with the newer whiz-bang engine tech, there's no waiting on vacuum etc...

Fuel Injection in a bike has the same advantage as in any car. It improves fuel efficiency, and a considerable increase in Power characteristics. It overcomes the drawback of carburettors which allow "stray" mixtures to pass through the cylinder and create potential future problems. The inlet passages are eliminated which reasons for improved economy and power. The only drawback is its maintainance. Pretty Expensive!!

Aside from the other answers here, which are correct, a main advantage is automatic altitude adjustment. Carbs need to be re-set or re-jetted if you take them from sea level to altitude, whereas fuel injected bikes, automatically adjust.

if i find any i will let your know. carburators only on all my bikes. no but sreiously they dont require choke. take higher/lower altitudes changes better. and possible better fuel economy. but on the down side, any perfoemce parts added to bike require a $300+ power programmer and maps changes when you do more later, while my carbs requires about $10 to $20 in jets.

Easier starting ( especially cold starts ), better throttle response, and easily modifiable fuel curve ( with a Power Commander or EFI race tuner ) after changing pipes, air filter, etc.
