Each person is different and has the capibility of learning salsa faster or slower than others. You can learn the basic step in one night, but in general, it takes 6 weeks to learn the Basic 1 steps and 6 weeks to learn the Basic 2 steps.
By that time, you have a good foundation to learn Salsa at an intermediate level.

The advanced level will take the learning up a notch..It takes all your fundamental steps and intermediate moves and combines them into the complicated moves that you see at salsa clubs. You'll need to have at least 3 months of Intermediate classes before going to this level. You'll also need a good memory, a solid foundation of the basic steps, and a quick mind, because the pace of learning in this class is usually double that you see in the intermediate class.

You can dramatically reduce your time to learn salsa by going out dancing ! I don't mean just taking more classes. You should go out to salsa clubs at least 2 or 3 times a week if you want to accelerate your learning curve.

Hope this helps!

It depends - if you're a quick learner two to three weeks should be enough to learn it properly.
