Most will be flattered and you picked her to ask.
Not for any particular reason - for sex for example - if it happens that's OK, but don't push it. Just be gentle with them, converse, be yourself (they like that).
You are afraid of rejection. Be prepared for rejection but you will be surprised how 8 times out of 10 you will get a positive response.

Be the "nice guy". It might not get you dates so much right now because younger girls are crazy, but as you get older, you'll be the guy that every girl wants. I'm a girl so I know these things :-)

Ask them. I know it sounds stupid, but your chances of getting a date with a girl goes up a LOT when you're brave enough to ask them if they'd like to go do something.
Don't be creepy, and don't be too insistant. Just go say hi, ask how they're doing, have a short conversation about whatever to see what she likes to do and then ask her if she'd like to go...catch a movie, get a cup of coffee, go rock climbing, whatever.

To practise, learn to date your friends and classmates. Learn to arrange activities. Don't forget about the importance of toilets. :)
