Copy the old files to a folder labeled "Backup_20060627" or something else descriptive.

If you mean apply updates that you applied to one computer to another computer: That could cause problems in the 2nd computer.
I would put the 2nd computer online and let microsoft scan the computer to see what updates are needed and download as req'd.
