It should not matter what religion a president is as long as they keep their religious views out of their decision making process.
A separation of state and church is important.
Religious views in a position of power do not always lead to decision making that is good for everyone. Look at any modern dictatorship... the leader using religion to justify their actions for the "Good" of their people.
I don't know about everyone else, but I enjoy my freedom and think religion and government need to stay away from each other.

I would prefer a person of faith as opposed to an atheist.
You usually know where a person is coming from when someone is religious. Most Atheists have morals but there is no atheistic standard of morality.
Yes, a political candidate should be honest in all things, including his or her religious beliefs.
As a Catholic, I believe a Catholic would be better choice. But I would not vote for one just because he (or she) was a Catholic.
With love in Christ.

It doen't matter as long the president's not into corruption as leads the country well and stick to what he/she said. Someone who can admit his/her mistakes. And honest with his/her actions and words.
But if the president's a believer then he must treat other religions as equal. Being true to his religion , meaning sticking to the golden rules of his/her religion is a simple act that he/she knows the meaning of the word loyalty and obedience.

I think that the president should moreso be a man of religious tolerance. I think that he and other leaders as well should be able to accept the different religions as they come, since it is one of the biggest things that divides cultures across the world today.

unfortunately, religion clouds a persons judgment no matter what religion they are.
I have yet to see an elected person of the christian faith that truly respects the separation of church and state.
In the best case scenario they have been legislating morality, violating the rights and freedoms of those who do not share their beliefs.
In the worst case scenario (what we have currently) you have someone that pretends he is a "good christian" and starts a crusade with one face, and pisses on the constitution with the other face.

No, I do not believe that it is important as what faith if any a president has. What is important is that he be a good exective and run the country as if it was a big business. I do not think it should be of importance if the president is religious or not.

The numb-nuts cunny funt earlier who said "any but Islam". You should run for office. You would fit right in in the Christian-Fundamentalist country that America is. There is nothing wrong with faith in politician but if he is supposed to representative of his/her constituency then they need to be careful not to alienate parts of their constituency if it is multi-cultural or multi-religious.

No, because rather than acting on what's best for his countrymen, he would act according to scripture which in my opinion is outdated & has been outdated. How can someone make current desicions based on "ancient" scriptures?

I don't care if he is a person of faith or not. As long as he puts America's interests as his top priority then it shouldn't matter.
