The best thing over the counter for you would be Alieve nightime, it has a sleep aid to help you rest, and is one of the best pain releavers for the back. I use it myself when mine flares up.
You should check with your doctor if you have never had Naproxin Sodium before (active ingredient) there have been known to be some alregic reactions in some people, but it's like any other over the counter med. just follow the directions, and don't take too much.

Before you go to bed, like about 30 minutes before, eat a small snack. I suggest 1-2 oz of turkey (triptophan - spelling approximate), a cracker or a cookie, or if you are concerned about your weight - a low glycemic carbohydrate and some nuts - almonds or peanuts are best. This is a recipe for some slow burning energy that will help level your blood sugar out for the night.
If this works you may want to check out www.hufa.org for more info on low blood sugar, its causes and things you can do about it.
You may want to search Yahoo!Answers for this topic, as it is asked regularly, and has gotten some great answers.
