Assessing and evaluating our situation is essential to our progress as human beings. The ability to challenge and change our beliefs based on new evidence is also crucial to personal development. When we find whe have painted ourselves into a corner of hypocrisy we need to be willing to step on a little paint in order to move on. A little touch up can make it all good.
Remember that what we are is not how we compare ourselves to others (or vice versa) but what we make of ourselves in light of what we once were. It's all about learning what we can do to make the world a better place to live and in the end that makes a this a better world for us all.

Well yes and no... When we grow or age are minds change. Just because our views have changed does not make us a hypocrite. One must remember That age bring wisdom (sometimes) So maybe you just getting wiser with each passing year.
The again it is true that no matter who you are some point and time in your life you will be a hypocrite. It just part of who we are. The important thing to know is, are you a mean hypocrite?

no, I don't thing that you are also a hypocrite according to your explanation of the question. I think You might have complained about because u didn't know what was that to a particular person about whom you were complaining and later when you were in his shoes you came to understand the importance of it. but if you did it with wrong motive and selfish gain. I think you will fall into that category.
hypocrisy is just pretending what a person is not. Best example could be an actor. His real life is entirely different from is acting life. I wouldn't actor are hypocrites, because it is their profession. However, hypocrisy would just like that.
some times I confess we would fall into this trap.

You know what I find most interesting about the word "hypocrite"? It was originally a term that applied only to the actors in a Greek play, and if you break it down, "hypo"=UNDER, and "Crite"=JUDGEMENT(from the same root word as our common modern word "critic." So in its original meaning the word hypocrite was applied ONLY to the actors performing in these Greek plays, and literally meant "under the judgment of the role." Do you know who and where the first modern usage of the term "hypocrite" came from? It was Jesus in His famous Sermon on the mount who first used the term hypocrite in its modern usage, "someone who lacks integrity, preaches one thing and does the opposite." And, word scholars will further tell you that the modern usage of the term "hypocrite" never caught on in Jesus' time, it wasn't until several hundred years later that "hypocrite" finally came to mean what it means for us today.
When my pastor relayed this to us in a Bible study, the beauty of this story so overwhelmed me, you know "The WORD" inventing a word, by taking an old word and using it in a new way. Of course, you've answered your own question, and you're right.
We're all hypocrites because, we're all under judgment. Thanks for a good question. Some days they're so hard to find. Sincerely, UC Steve.

Pal, don't pain yourself ok. That might be a normal case because during that moment when you like something or find yourself pleased with, that is really what you feel, not pretension. One becomes hypocrit if he is not being true to himself and to others. You are being true to yourself. Changing mind is a different thing to work on with. Cheer up ok. You should discern things well before you decide on or for it.

I don't think that's being a hypocrite, I think that's growing and evolving. If you have the same likes and ideals at 18 that you have at 58 what was the point?

I think you are confusing learning and growth with hypocrisy. We do not share the same opinions throughout our lifetimes. I would blush to hear myself pontificating at age 20 but I do not think of myself as a hypocrite.

i was going to ask that question!!!!!!
I was questioning myself recently because I have some EX-inlaws that I truly despise and don't like. They are evil, negative and mean....truly not nice people...
However, trying to live a spiritual, godly lifestyle, I have a hard time dealing with these folks (and i have to because of the kids).
See, i was asking myself, "If God says to love each other, why can I NOT find it in my heart to have compassion for these people?"
however, I know that I am HUMAN...AND AM HARDLY PERFECT...so, one day at a time, I try to be as nice as possible. It's a tough call with some people though.

Changing my views and opinions doesn't make me a hypocrite. Criticizing other people for changing their views and opinions while ignoring or excusing my own inconsistencies makes me a hypocrite.

Hey, NO not at all.
I mostly think that hypocrites are those who act to be what they should be, but in your case i think its your nature of mind which keeps changing.
I feel that I also keep changing my thoughts every now and then that doesn,t mean that we are hypocrites.
