When in August can Blackerrries be picked

Blackberries will start to ripen around the end of the first week of August provided we keep up the hot weather and the rains. They ripen slowly so you should be able to pick well till the end of the month provided the birds don't beat you to them. If you like wild berries keep an eye out for black and red raspberries they are on the horizon soon. Some are even turning now. Enjoy.

It depends on where you live and what kind of blackberries you have. My sister's blackberry bushes in Seattle never seem to be ready when I'm there in July, but we buy lots of big, ripe blackberries and marionberries in farmer's markets when I visit.
