I wouldn't say peaceful demonstration, I would say an Educated demonstration.
If a person wants to make itself understandable, and gain supporters, a balanced attitude seems the right way of doing, but doesn't mean a so calm attitude, that doesn't cause impact. A Protest Demonstration, have to cause impact on people in order to be successful to gain support and followers.
Everything is about balance, so is your Protest too.
If you decided to make yourself credible by violent, you will pass an idea of a psychological problem person, and the message you want to give, won't even be seem, since the violent act takes away the attention of your message deserve to transfer.
Acting with superiorety can maybe take them out of control, than, you will make extra points.
