Where to go to in Spain with a big family depends a lot on the ages involved and your interests! We are a family of 6 and live in Spain. We like going on excursions with the family, as Spain is a very family friendly country.
If some of your family are still (very) young, don't even think about going on big excursions in the midst of summer, especially in the south of Spain: it does get very, very hot!! The north would be a better bet and there is plenty to see: cities (Santiago de Compostela, Vigo, Oviedo, Santander) beaches, nature, great food etc. The Spanish Pyrenees are beautiful too and there is a lots to do in the Summer: walks, rafting, cycling, music festivals etc. The North East coast of Spain (the Costa Brava) is not too hot in the summer and there is lots to do (the Picasso museum, Empuries (Roman/Greek city), beaches, Girona, Barcelona etc).

If the heat doesn't bother you, the South of Spain (Sevilla, Cordoba, Granada) is absolutely fantastic, as are cities like Madrid and surrounding cities, Salamanca etc.etc. But do realise that in the Summer it can get quite easily up to 40 degrees or warmer in the shade......

Hope you have a great holiday!

Stay in the province of Malaga, the Costa del Sol is your best bet as your base...From there you can take day trips to Seville, Cordoba, Granada and other smaller towns like Ronda and Jerez de La Frontera or Cadiz
If you don't have accomodation already try this website

We just got back from Vigo Spain. There was a lot to do there. A beach, a zoo, site seeing, boat rides, etc. The public bus is only a Euro per adult. We had a great time.

Easy - above all - the Alhambra above the city of Granada. It teaches so much about the multi-cultural history of Spain.

GO TO MADRID!!! I was there for 2 weeks for a vacation a little more than a year ago. There will be something there to please everyone. There's tons of shopping, museums, parks, and best of all, amazing food!!! You can also visit nearby Toledo or Segovia.
