As it turns out, America is now more polarized than at any time since the Civil War and the world is divided into "Us against Them". Americans have never been more hated by the rest of the planet. Thank you George.

"Naturally the common people don't want war, but they can always be brought to their goverments bidding. Simply tell them they are being attacked and chastise the left for being unpatriotic. It works the same in every country." - Herman Goering, Hitlers Reichmarshall at the Nuremberg trials.
Right wing radio has been a real force for the White House in promoting the separation of Americans. The reason why is simple. If we dislike each other then there is no reason to talk to one another and share ideas. If the citizenry can be kept apart then the manufacture of consent can be accomplished easier. So we call each other names and label each other as Left/Right - Republicans/Democrats - Liberal/Conservative - Red State/ Blue State. All these phrases do nothing but to split AMERICANS apart.
The point of public relations slogans like "Support our troops" is that they don't mean anything... That's the whole point of good propaganda. You want to create a slogan that nobody's going to be against, and everybody's going to be for. Nobody knows what it means, because it doesn't mean anything. Its crucial value is that it diverts your attention from a question that does mean something: Do you support our policy? That's the one you're not allowed to talk about. As long as we keep forgeting that we are Americans and not the divisive phrases I listed above we will never learn about our right to open discussion and ideas. Like our founding fathers intended us to be.

Yeah what Jack said. Other governments might hate us, big deal they always have and always will be jealous of us no matter how much we help them. It goes with the territory. If we were hated so by the people of the world then why do so many of them come here? I don't see anything Bush has done to divide us I have heard and seen many things the Democrats have done hoping to divide us. Thinking it will strengthen their chances for re-gaining power in Washington. Bush is thinking (and acting) about the good of the country, the Democrats are thinking about the good of Democrats. (Talking about those in power). Other governments liked Clinton because they knew he wouldn't ever do anything much. Hell he even gave the Chinese the ability to launch missiles better, what a guy. Do the Chinese like us any more for that? No. We are an upstanding country and Bush has represented us well. But he ain't gonna take no shyt off of any of them either. I have friends in several different countries and most of them like the way Bush stands for what he believes in yet doesn't stoop to the name calling grade school tactics the left does. I just don't see any "polarized" stuff from upstanding countries. We help more of the world in every way more then all other countries combined and if some don't like it. Tuff noggies.

For you who believe our country is divided...where did you get that information? I only hear such balderdash spout from the liberal media. I, and the people I know, are not divided on the merits of our country. It is the only country in the world where I would choose to live; I am fortunate to have been born here. The USA is not perfect, but when compared to any other nation in the world, it is the best. I encourage all who believe otherwise to take up citizenship in another county of their choosing, or take the time to research what they believe the problem to be and go out there and effect change. I wish the USA did not need to act as protector of so many countries, but what other countries step up to bat and fight for the underdog. Most of the other countries in the world simply step back and wait to see what the USA does instead of taking the first step. America is the land of the free, and it is what multitudes of people wish for. If America is such a bad place to live, why are there so many people trying to get in?

He also said "You're either with us or against us" Not a very uniting statement. He's said so many unbelievably uncharacheristic statements unbecoming of a true leader. He's likely to go down as the worst president in history. Why: He's too decisive - makes up his mind without looking at all the evidence - and once he decides - that's it - no going back even if he is incredibly wrong. Has this president ever admitted to a public policy mistake. All presidents make them - good presidents learn from them and make corrections- this president doesn't acknowledge any mistakes and we're all paying for them.
Thank goodness the nightmare is almost over.

It's not simply because of Bush - you should remember that for whatever faults you see in him, he did exactly what he said he was going to do all along.

The division I'm seeing isn't coming from Bush, but from over-opinionated, underqualified people spewing biased and unsubstantiated opinions, and passing them off as fact. You can scream all day about how bad Bush is, but all you're doing is making things worse. Do you have a right to do so? Of course you do. Knock yourself out. But don't blame the division on the wrong people.

If you want to help, on the other hand, there are things you can do. You have a choice - you can sit there and complain, which causes division, or you can try to help, which brings people together. Up to you.

I believe he has united the American people.
1. American's were of a like mind to go after the people that bombed the WTC.
2. Congress voted almost unanimously to go to war with Afghanistan and Iraq.
3. GWB won the largest number of popular votes by a President in 2004.

If you want to talk about uniting or dividing lets look at actions not words.

He has united the world against America.

And it's not true that America was always hated. It was admired for years as a dynamic and principled country. After 911 the whole world (nearly) supported America, Bush destroyed all of that good will in a year.

the man is a joke and Americans are a joke for electing him to a second term.

He said that while running for office. It's just a soundbite. It doesn't mean anything.

But yes, you're right. He was pissing off other nations long before he was elected the first time. Remember the "Grecians?" That's like calling us the Americese. He sounded so uneducated, even back then. How did we manage to elect him twice? Like the rest of the world needed to see us even MORE as dumb Americans.

And as for the US being "united" about going to war? That's crazy. Half of those who DID support it did so under false pretenses, cooked up by the administration!

Yeah, and the majority of us suckers believed him to the point that he is there for a second term. Were idiots. I laugh at America, and I'm not alone. they are laughing at us also. Thanks George...I weep for America, and all the simple minded bush supporters. It's not there fault. I know that some people were just simply born to follow. just give them there rattle, and sit them in front of the TV when tom and Jerry comes on...

Our president isn't elected to win a popularity contest. He made decisions based on votes by Congress. I truly believe he is doing the best he can and if Americans would stop all this name calling and political infighting, we could move on. Don't forget...we are still the greatest country there is to live in and if you don't believe that, then why are you here?
