Like if those you thought knew you, and knew you were a good person, believed the lies told about you? Would you feel you had to set the record straight? Or would you just accept that those people weren't really your friends and actually had NO idea what you were really all about?

At first, I would want revenge. But, I would think the situation out carefully and then realize that revenge would make me no better than the person who had wronged me. I am sure my mind would plot revenge over and over, but I would not act on it. I would want to set the record straight. If I was unable to set the record straight as a result of the unscrupulous actions of that person, I would find a way to get my side heard, without hurting someone else.

I think anyone that betrays you or tells lies about you is not worth the energy it takes to be angry with them. I am a better person and honestly, if that person could do that to me, they really were never my friend!

Revenge is never right. But I would certainly do what I could to correct any misperceptions might have been caused by the slander or libel.

Whenever I can control myself, I let sleeping dogs lie and I don't take revenge. You look petty. You waste your energy. You honor the guilty party. You get caught in a vicious circle.

I've done both, and I've had both done to me. I tried setting the record straight at first; if that didn't work, I would write them out of my life.

"If you don't add to My life, you take away from it, and I don't need you anyway."
