Um no...I just can't see it...it makes me laugh actually, just picturing a nice dress top and then to look down at a pair of pale hairy legs. : )

Although, undoubtably, men in shorts on a hot day is unavoidable, dress shorts in the evening is a big "no" for two main evening- the first is footwear. Sandals are not appropriate evening shoes. And if you wore shoes in the evening you would have to wear socks: socks and shorts is in the top ten list of fashion crimes. The second is that in most countries the temparature cools considerably in the evening. Thus wearing shorts in the evening may create the impression that you havent bothered to change. I would suggest that for style and comfort, hot weather friendly linen trousers are a much better summer evening option.

Do you really think they look alright?? Don't do it! Its just the fashion industry trying to make a bit more money, although at least it puts a smile on my face when I see people who do wear them!
Come on, how many well dressed men can you think of who will be wearing dress-shorts?

Depends on what sort of evening. If you're hanging out at the bar with buds (or even your girl) then yeah, shorts are fine. If you're going out to dinner with your girl, show some respect and wear pants man!

No, definately not. You can get a nice pair of summer trousers made from light fabric.
Shorts look awful except if you are going to do some kind of sports or go cycling or hiking.

no, i was was sitting in the evening air having a glass of wine on the croisette in cannes-france,three men in designer suits but shorts passed thinking they looked cool-the jeers and mocking with every step they took and from all walks of society-sent them scurrying in shame-i still feel for them now,20yrs later.x incidentally,since this is your first question-it comes under questions with no definate answer possible and is chat,please read community guidelines to the bottom,welcomex

No way. No shorts can be dressy enough for men in the evening. A pair of tailored pants will do. :)

Depends on where you're going. If it's just a movie or a beach party or party at a friends house, sure, it's ok. But if you're taking someone out to eat at a nice place - no.
