I would like to keep one..but who or what am I writing it for? I want to keep track so I can be more aware. But how much detail should I write. I hate writing down all these things to myself that I already know. So how much should I write about topics?

Some people like to record certain events in their lives to help them remember things in the past. Give it a try and you'll understand. Those few note that you jot down now will jog a memory later on that you may have forgotten. Or it may help settle a question as to what date something was on.

But what ever you do DO NOT write ANYTHING that you would not want anyone to see. Because as soon as you do it will bite you in the butt...

No need to write about routine works. Some important or unusual happenings taking place in your presence, should get a space in your journal, like meeting / the time spent with your lover, any incidence occured in your college/office/outside etc. When you are bored, you could turn the pages of the journal, which will give a satisfaction taking you to the past.
How much should you write? Well, depends on the happenings and yourself. some days the pages may be blank.

You can write about anything you want and you can write as much as you want.

I have a journal and it is just for the momories of my day or anything I am thinking about.

Sometimes I write one paragraph and other times 1 page. Whatever you feel like. Write something you'll want to remember years down the road.

You know these things now, but will you remember them in a years time or more? I write down just where I've been, with whom and my impression, or something significant that had happened... Like "it was a great night out, I've met that cute guy who works in the CD store"... So every time I look at it I see who I've been with and where and usually remember how good it was and it feels great :)

People do forget many things what is remembered is some highlights. Sometimes, even these are mixed up with other events. One would remember of some good friend - but what were their names? So, do right when some thing happens - whom you met? Nothing like I played with my friends, but like I made a new friend XYZ who lives at ABC; if possible have pictures and date them, with matching entries in your journal.

I've never had the control to write one but my m8 allways said she wrote it to detail her life incase she ever lost her memory(i think it ran in her family).
but its also nice to be able too look back after a couple of months and say wowowo did i do/say/think that ?
it remembers Friends you may have forgotten and past lovers its a nice keep sake.
i wish i had the self control but i don't and no i don't really have a good memory so most of my thoughts are lost.
