Wearing a broad-brimmed hat considerably reduces the amount of light striking the eyes when walking or standing. Ordinary clear plastic or high-index glass lenses provide considerable protection against short-wavelength ultraviolet radiation. Sunglasses provide still better protection, although it is important to check that these are made to meet the British Standard for sunglasses (BS EN 1836:1997 or BS 2724:1987): category 2 (20% transmittance) gives good protection. Protection against ambient ultraviolet coming from the side or reflected from below is also desirable, and with some modern small sized frames, care must be taken to check that they also protect from above.

Just wear sunglasses but heres the catch you'll have to buy designers because the cheap £5 - £20 ones dont work as well as the real deal.
You know the black coating on the bachk of some vans or occasionally windows where the outside person cant see but you can see him on the inside thats what they use on most sunglasses.
But the Designer ones, eg the ones found in most motor bike shops, costing around £50 - £100 meaning tested and tried by experts.

I'm assuming you want protection from the sun. The best thing to do is to buy a pair of wraparound sunglasses from a decent chemist or opticians, make sure they offer UV protection and have a BS number on them.

If you are lost in the desert...try smearing them with some of your own excrement...this will not help with the burning...but it sure keeps you from licking them...
