You need a word processor. Windows has a simple one called Wordpad build into it. Look under Start > Accessories and there should be a listing for Wordpad.
Check the documentation that came with your PC, as most PCs will include a full featured Word Processor (WordPerfect, MS Works, or MS Word) as part of the package. But as this varies with dealers and deals, I can not predict which is on your PC.
But you will have Wordpad.

For a basic text letter, just use notepad.

word pad is probably on your computer.
If you want a full free software to download and use get Open Office
