Out of the Scoobies, my favorites were Willow, Oz, and Xander. Willow's my number one favorite, but I was disappointed when they made her a lesbian because it seems like every witch on TV and film always has to be a lesbian. Oz was just so cool that you had to love him. And Xander was always so brave even though he was the only one with no powers whatsoever. I wasn't too fond of Cordelia until she went over to Angel - then I loved her!
And out of the bad guys, I loved Spike!
The characters that I hated the most were Riley and Glory. It might have been that I didn't like the story lines they were in, but I think it's probably more because they were both pretty bad actors. Very wooden.

Least Dawn (but of course) and Xander
Dawn was utterly unnecessary I hated her from the moment she stepped onto the scene in Buffy vs Dracula. At first I thought she'd dissapear into the key after season 5 or at least season 6 but Joss decided to keep the character and I'm still trying to find a justification for introducing this character.
People still watched even though season 4 sucked. The viewing audience was fine and there was no need to try to attract teenagers, with little or no money to advertisers. If Joss wanted Buffy the character to have a sense of family since he planned to kill off Joyce he should have either expanded Joyce's role as incentive to keep her on or replaced the actress, if Kristine Sutherland wanted to leave.
I always hated Xander, no matter how much Joss tried to develop his character he always seemed like the wimpy, immature fool. Added to this Nicholas Bredon gained a considerable amount of weight during the show and you have a very unattractive character inside and out. My least favourite epidsode is "The Zeppo" can you guess why? I realize that he didn't have superpowers but neither does Batman and he's way cooler than Xander.
Unlike most I liked Riley he was the one character that drove the point home that Buffy could never have a normal life. Even if her boyfriend knew she was the slayer and helped her and loved her he'd always be intimidated and always feel neglected and always be dependent upon her for his self esteem. He would never be good enough. I thought the whole Riley/ Buffy relationship was a metaphor for many modern relationships. The way Joss worked it into the guise of the buffyverse was brilliant.

My fav is Angel without a doubt and i really got into Cordy in Angels own series.
My least fav was Dawn, I just didn't really feel the need for her and thought she was just a waste of space (sorry)
Grew to like Spike nearer the end of the seasons too but felt like he was always following Angels footsteps (story lines)
