Starting a new TV channel takes a lot of money and effort! It takes millions of dollars just to get a cable channel going, let alone a national network. It's not something that just anyone off the street can do. And keeping it on the air is even harder to do. It's so hard that WB and UPN couldn't even do it alone - they had to merge into one channel that will be starting this fall called the CW.

Even if you could find investors with money, they would undoubtedly want someone in charge who knows how to run a television channel, or at least has a lot of television production experience. Do you have experience in the television industry?

Now, what you COULD do is get involved with the television industry in your area. You can take classes in television production at many community colleges. And you could try to get a job at a local affiliate in your area. If you want to run a TV channel, why not work your way up the ladder at an already existing station in your area? If you can't find a job with a local station, you could also try getting a job at a local television production company. Production companies make commercials and smaller TV shows that air on your local cable channels. And finally, if you just have a desire to create your own shows, many cable networks have "public access" channels, which means they will accept and broadcast a show given to them by the public, as long as it meets some basic guidelines. If your local cable company doesn't do this, try the cable company in a large city close to you. And good luck!

On the other hand, if you're a multi-millionaire give me a call and I'll help you get your station up and running!
