I would try to go to another doctor for a second opinion on it...i've never heard of that beforebut i think it should be fine as long as the stiches are taken out and she probally will have to have labor induced.

I had a cervical suture with my last 2 pregnancies. It is used to treat an "incompetent cervix".
A stitch is put around the cervix to prevent it from opening prematurely during the pregnancy which could result in miscarriage.
It is usually removed from 36-38 weeks without the need for anaesthetic.

The stitches dissolve or are removed by the Obsterician before the due date. You shouldn't worry (but you still can) because they did stitches for a good reason on your wife to make sure the baby stays in full term and be healthy.

Sounds fine. Why not call your midwife and have her come 'round for a chat about it with you and your wife?
Make sure you make her a nice brew and I'm sure she'll be happy to answer your questions.
The suture is removed when the baby is term - 37 weeks onwards, when the baby is fully developed in the lung department or if delivery is unstoppable.
If labour starts before 34 weeks, she'll need to have steroid injections to mature the baby's lungs and will probably need to go to Special care baby unit for a while.
But please discuss it with your midwife. That's what they're there for. (well, part of it)! And she'll know your hospital's policies and routines.
best of luck.

Its a failry normal procedure, dont be concerned she will still have a normal baby/delivery and be able to get preg again no worries. the stitches are keeping ur baby in till its fully 'cooked' as if it came out at 30 weeks u would all sorts of dramas.

Totally normal. She could have went into premature labor with out the stitch. It doesn't do anything to mess with the delivery or another conception. The stitch will be removed.

Your wife has what is called an incompetent cervix, and the procedure that corrected it is called a cerclage. Here is a fairly good website that can help answer your questions.
There are a good deal of support groups on the internet, and you can get more information from there. Try parentsplace or ivillage and I bet they can steer you properly.
Good luck to you and your wife.

Yes, both are normal. They are used to stop her from going into labor early, thus protecting your baby. The stitches will be removed when she goes into labor. There shouldn't be any complications (though there can be, it's rare). It will just require extra care after the baby is born to give her time to heal.

This is a common procedure to help ensure- the stitch will be removed prior to birth and should not affect further chances of conception.

NO THE DOCTORS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING...WHAT HAPPENED IS HER CERVIX STARTED TO OPEN SOONER THAN IT WAS SUPPOSED TO...THE CERVIX OPENS SO THE BABY CAN COME OUT...SO WHAT THE DOCTORS DID IS STITCHED IT SHUT...THAT ALLOWS THE BABY TO STAY IN LONGER SO HE/ SHE CAN BECOME STRONG ENOUGH TO MAKE IT OUT HERE IN THIS WORLD....THE STITCHES WILL DISSOLVE AND WHEN ITS TIME FOR THE BABY TO COME OUT IT WILL HAPPEN NATURALLY...IT WONT EFFECT FUTURE CONCEIVING FOR THIS PREGNANCY
