The purpose of an autograph differs depending upon whom you ask.

Some people, like myself, collect autographs of their favorite celebrity because they have enjoyed the celebrities work in movies, television, etc.

Some others collect autographs simply for the monetary value, hoping that the autograph will become a "collector's item" and because they can increase in value over time.

If you'd like to find out more about the hobby of autograph collecting, you can visit my web site at http://www.digiulio.com , download a free celebrity address list, and write to your favorite celebrity for an autograph.

Once you receive that first autograph through the mail, it becomes exciting just waiting for the next one to arrive. It also becomes fun trying to determine if the autograph you receive is indeed genuine, as some celebrities send pre-printed autographed photos (their signature is part of the photo), and some others employ secretaries to sign on their behalf.

Even better a picture of the signing your autograph, so you can prove it is authentic and than selling the autograph and making a second copy of the picture for your memory album.

An autogtraph is worth more than a picture. A picture of the person him/herself signed is worth money. BUT if you for example are in the picture then the value has just dropped. But for you or your famly then a picture more so with you in it is worth a life time of memories.

I guess with a photo who knows if the celeb is real or not. You know how they have actor/actress cardboard cut outs.
A geniuine signature may not be worth much when the person is alive but somehow they seem to be worth more once they die!! I guess it is easier to see the authenticity!!??
