Some big ones are discovered during dreams like the theory of atoms. The guy who figured out that you can make gene strands and fingerprint DNA was someone who has been taking acid every day since 1969. He was driving with one of his g/f's and just stopped. He figured it all out right there on a coastal road. He sold his idea for a couple million. Just enough to pay for his beach house and a couple few more years worth of dating. He only had sex with girls a certain number of DAYS old. Like a certain day in their 28th year. Wierd but true.

I have many ideas, and they just come to me and then they may give me more ideas. Some require study to find an understanding but all are from an open mind I think ;)

through continous curiosity, experience and interest. It makes us search for things to understand and with our experience and interest giving a dash of creativity, Viola! You have a wonderful Idea!
Though, different people have different preferences so the dumbest idea for you maybe the best idea for the other.

u look at the world around you and just try to reform the world based on your vision. thats when you get the ideas. like wright bros thought why cant we fly like the birds and lo...the concept of airoplane was born
