If you are trying to replace the fuel pump, the easiest way it to move the bed. It sounds like a major job, but it really is not. Just remove the bolts that secure the bed and (with some help) lift the bed up and slide it back.

Don't listen to the other guy! You don't remove the bed to remove the gas tank. Your gas tank comes out from under your truck. Just jack up your truck by placing your jack under your rear differential and put some good jack stands under each side of your rear diff. Make sure you do this on pavement and not in the dirt or grass. You have to have a good solid surface (for safety reasons) There should be some screws or bolts that you take off around where you fill up your tank that connect the filler tube to your tank. Next put a flat piece of wood or something similar on top of your jack and put the jack underneath your gas tank for support when you take off the straps that hold your tank in place. There should be some bolts on either on top of your tank or on the side somewhere. After you get the straps loose lower the tank down just enough to where you can take off all the electrical connections and your hoses fuel line, etc. But don't lower it down your tank too far because you don't want to damage them or rip them apart. After that your tank should slip right out of there. It's also a good rule of thumb to have someone help you balance and operate the jack while doing all of this because you don't want it to fall on you and you kind of need them there to help angle the gas tank out from the straps and out from underneath your truck. The job really isn't that difficult of a job. Oh yeah one more safety tip, don't use a drop light around your gas tank by any means (for reasons I'm sure you already know).

I do this for a living. If you are needing to change the fuel pump, raise the bed! Once you remove all bed bolts, use a jack and a piece of wood to raise it up, block it in place with wood, and change the pump.
