Freedom has never in the history of mankind been free. There Is a cost for freedom. That cost is called courage. If no country had the courage to fight Hitler, how free would you be? Until all men in every nation is free no one is free. Many people, even radio talk shows and news documentaries speak of America as the land of the free. Yet the biggest war in American history, with more casualties than all other wars America has been in combined is the Civil War. The U.S. population was only 60,000,000 when that war started. Who is to say that it is impossible that had the south won that war that "Yankees" would have never been enslaved? Not to mention ALL the millions who died in contributing to the freedom of slaves. If you do not have the courage to be free, you are not. Even in relationships when Someone says, "I'm going to give him/her their freedom; that becomes a misstatement because one person does not own another persons freedom to give (back) to them in the first place. But that is another issue, isn't it?

We don't just fight for our freedom, but also the freedom of many who have been oppressed for years worldwide. Also, we must continue to fight in order to preserve the precious freedoms we enjoy every day like the freedom to post what you just did on the internet and not be killed. I know it's not what you want to hear, but it's the truth. By the way, not all men are born free.

They are taking any freedom you have piece by piece!! I wouldn't die for Bush. He's a war criminal who is going to be charged, along with a lot of other people for Acts Against Humanity! Mark my word!!!
Fascism doesn't seem to be free. Freedom is what is being taken away secretly a piece at a time!

I said freedom isn't free.... because I have seen it and lived it. You have to realize that without sacrifice and standing up for "freedom"... which includes people being willing to give up thier very life in support of freedom... it's not something you will keep if you have it at all.
I have walked in foriegn lands where praying as you see fit to whatever god you worship isn't allowed (Afghanistan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia).... I have seen people shot because they didn't support the views of a particular president or warlord (Panama, El Salvador, Nicaragua and Somolia)... I have seem people starving because thier government was so corrupt that children were allowed to die in streets from lack of clean water, medical attention and basic food while they sat in thier palaces. I have seen people living in terror that the drug lord or arms trafficers would enter thier villiage to have "some fun" and shoot anyone standing around and rape women and children (Columia and Brazil).
If you believe that no one needs to fight for freedom, then I applaud you. But until you have lived in third world countries and seen the things that many of us, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen and Sailors alike, have, please don't try to convince me that freedom shouldn't or isn't something we have to fight for.
In this United States, we have fought for our independence from a tyrannical king, and we have fought amoung ourselves for equal rights... yes, we had to have riots and war to bring and keep freedom within our own borders.
Freedom is far from free.... yours, mine, everyones. And everyday when I put on my uniform and start planning and training.... it is to defend that freedom that on any day... of any week that I am willing to give my life, so you can enjoy freedom. And without people being willing to die to that freedom which we hold above so many other things.... it will become a relic and so too would the dreams of millions.
I wish we could live in a world where we didn't have to fight and die for freedom.... and one day.... maybe we will. But until then, I will fall on any sword to protect you and your rights to enjoy that costly asset.... FREEDOM.
