Hmm I don't think anyone has yet hit the newly built box adjacent of the batter. And I think the construction included special tempered glass/plastic? I am not sure. Did hear something about it on the news, but got distracted by the kids fighting. However, I hope that the player would not be responsible. At least I am hoping. He has no control of where he hits the ball. And you are talking about the the home field of the Cubs. And they definitely have no control this year. However, I am sure the ball club would consider taking care of it. Would you offer to pay for the broken window that you hit a ball into?

They have high screens at the top of the walls on the exterior of the park. This helps to prevent that from happening. Also, when the owners of the buildings across the street started putting up bleachers and charging people to watch the game from the rooftops of the buildings, the best view areas were obscured using opaque strips in these screened fences.

oh wow - lol - i'm not sure. Though, this doesn't fall under baseball or anything, i heard that during the world cup, some England soccer player kicked a stadium door, and was told he had to pay for it. They later retracted it, saying they want to keep it as a reminder of the world cup there. They even had people asking if they could buy the door.
So, in my opinion, i don't think they would, no, cause it's off the field.

I'm sure the people (and/or their landlords) living in the surrounding buildings have insurance that covers such a thing. But, they only have to worry about HRs from the visiting team!!!

I saw sammy sosa break a window and he paid for it. He went to Menards and bought a 18x24 piece of glass and installed it in between steroid injections.
