friends i have a mp3 cd that doesnt look scratched but has some superficial spots on it. the music cantbe read completely. is there any software that can help me extract the data

You've got two choices:

1) Buy the highest speed CD-ROM you can find at Best Buy. Put it into your computer (or plug it via USB if you get an external nit, which is probably easier for non techies), drop in the CD and go. Higher speed CD's can read past scratches if they are light.

2) Find your local "second hand" CD/music store. Since they traffic used CDs they typically keep a CD re-surfacing machine on the premises, and for a fee, they'll usually resurface your CD for you!

Oh and a tip: if you own a CD burner, do what I do: on the day you buy your CD, burn a copy, and take that with you everywhere instead of the original...

maybe you should try to use a high-speed cd rom. High-speed cdrom is more capable of reading data in cd. Then you can back-up your data into your computer....

TRY Ontrack's Easy Recovery Pro.
I use it for data recovery on hard disks...never tried it on a CD, but it might work.

have you tried cleaning the cd? :| that sucks. :| i usually clean my cds with toothpaste... you should rub some tooth paste on it and wash it with your hands and try to dry it outward not in ward towards the cd.. don't dry it in circles......
