Personal protection from criminals with illegal guns (undocumented firearms?) is a secondary reason for the second amendment. Taking legal guns only increases crime. That's what happened in England and Australia. Maybe gun crime went down but all other crime went up.
The primary reason for it is to protect the country from an uncontrollable tyrannical totalitarian government.
Some say teaching sex ed in schools only increases the likely hood of school kids having sex, yet they still teach it. "They'll do it anyway" we're told.
The best way to protect kids from guns and gun accidents is to teach them firearm safety, not that all guns are bad.

Easier said than done, I'm afraid. The answer lies in education. If children are taught to a) respect firearms and the power they have, and b)not to fear them and use them properly, you would have a lot less gun related deaths in the U.S. These are lessons that can last a lifetime. Get 'em while they're young.

How about instituiting a "give us your guns or we'll shoot you program", for convicted felons, or problem areas. It'll go well with the "give us your drugs or we'll shoot you" program, and the "pay your taxes or we'll shoot you program. I'm sick of the laws that limit me on getting my guns, and thse policies could help.

what? I don't know what you try to say, there are guns in my home everywhere, over ten in the safe. hubby is a police, love guns.

yes...now whose gonna implement that my friend?The way things are going...I think we should be more worried about nuclear bombs...We cannot change the situation but you can implement that in your own life and the lives of your kids...Each person does that...we can have a start...
