alright i know what techno is but what are all these different genres out there? they just confuse me, can anyone help me out?

well.. u have internet, right? do some research.. find out what they mean.. if you need opinions..well i think trance is the best from what you wrote. trance is the kind of music that you can listen when you want to relax; house the kind of music that you can dance all night long if you know how; drum & bass.. boom booom booooom!! and so on.. house, chill out, trance, rock, pop, alternative, electronic, punk.....who cares??? music is the best!! never mind the gendre.. to me....
trance= continuous long beats with little change in tempo, or breaks
house= almost the same, but with a bit more deep and short bass kick (like a quick thump sound)
d&b= has more of a break-beat or hip hop beat, but with more snare or bass drum kicks on the up beat (say your tapping your foot to a basic 4 beat, well d&b throws a 8 or 16th beat to make it sound faster)

techno is general clasification
trance is long and changes a lot
House im not so sure
Drum and bass has exactly that...a lot of drum and bass
Progressive gets more and more intense

Well the tempos different and the moods of the music is different. So its like all music, some you can dance to, some you cant, others are sad, some are happy, some are slow, some are fast
