I think you already know! The greatest rider ever would be Joey Dunlop, who died racing July 2nd, 2000. :( For anyone who doesn't know about him, he was 26 time IOM-TT winner, won 126 GP races, and was 5 times World Champion. Always and still is, "another one of the guys." He was in the gym alot, was hands on with the bikes, and owned a pub where he hung out with friends. Just an incredible guy. "Yer Maun!" Look him up; the more you see about him, the more you'll be awed!
Right now the best riding talent is Valentino Rossi. The coolest riders are Eric and Ben Bostrom. :) Living the dream. These guys are great, but Joey was a bigger than life legend in his own time, and he's probably their hero as well.

Giacomo "Ago" Agostino. Still leading the overall win catagory. Nice fellow too. Kenny Roberts Sr. probably had the most talent though. Real fast on bikes with wicked horsepower, ill handling frames, crappy suspension, and questionable brakes and tires!

When it comes to straight-up racing, currently I'd have to say Ricky Carmichael. When it comes to freestyle, currently I'd say Travis Pastrana, but Mike Metzger is the godfather!
