How do you feel about people who take someone else's work and claim it as their own. Example: http://blog.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseac... that guy on MySpace who claims that he's a poet and that he wrote all three of these poems he posted when the first one has been around since the '30s witten by Mary Frye http://www.businessballs.com/donotstanda... the second one is written by someone named Virgo. And the third on is written by an Australian named Jenni Nixon http://www.poetsunion.com/poemsaboutwar....
There are a lot of people who do that with all kinds of work.
So, in detail, how do feel about Plagiarism? Feel free to go into any positives you can find and also negatives.

Everyone plagiarises at least something. With knowlege or without. Its quite impossible to come up with your own original idea. Most of it are innovated upon. However plagiarism comes in only when u use the whole poem or whatever material it is . On the other hand if u do not write the citations , its also considered as plagiarism even if its just a little bit that u copied.
Plagiarism somewhat reminds me of piracy. So i would say it isnt good. Lessens the authors credentials.

There are no positives in plagiarism. You can't justify stealing someone's car, so you definately can't justify someone's work. If someone plagiarizes, it means they don't have their own mind and their are too lazy to get up and think. Written work comes from one's own thoughts and their are unique to that person. Tons of people especially high schoolers and college kids are just trying to get through school and plagiarism is the only way out. It's terrible to see websites offer methods for plagiarism to kids.

I feel very strongly about plagiarism and think that those who do it are either supremely dumb or craving for attention. It's really easy to turn something into an original work even if you've gotten ideas from someone else's writing. We applaud people for their talent but plagiarizing... that's like Milli Vanilli getting a grammy (which they had to return) because they were just lipsynching.

Plagiarism is a sign of weakness. People want credit, but don't want to take the time to do something original.

I personally feel that plagiarism is really bad, think of how the person that actually created it would feel, but different people have different reasons depending on how they were brought up

Well, I persoanally hate it. It is theft and it is wrong.
People who do it are caught - if you are a college student and you google then cut & paste your assignment you will get caught. it is very dangerous and not worth the risk.
be original! we don't need more copies! we need people to be original.
