I've got 217 soon to reduce after this question.Why do we loose points for asking a question.Also what level are you on?

I believe there's a reason Yahoo set the system up to lose points when you ask a question. It's because they were trying to minimize the number of people who would spam the site. Spam meaning... asking the same question over and over, asking dumb/pointless questions, or intentionally being offensive.
Of course that still goes on. But imagine how much worse it would be if there were no limit. Also, the point system encourages people to answer more questions... thus balancing the question/answer ratio by providing enough answers for each question.

At 260 I went to level 2, now I'm at 310, I'm still at level 2. I'm not sure when I'll go up to level 3. I'm figureing it out as I go. I guess you have to ask a few questions to be able to answer more questions, to get more points. I just choose the questions that I know something about so I don't look stupid. lol. I don't have much to ask, so I've only asked about 5 questions. Good luck, keep me informed as to your escallation. Ron

we loose points cause thats the rule -5 for asking a question
+2 for answering
+1 for voting undecided questions
+10 for best answer
+3 for choosing best answer
