i went to court today and really blew it. the judge didn't ask any questions. the mortgage company stated their side and i made a feeble attempt at stating mine. we were in and out of court in less than five minutes. if the judge finds for the mortgage company, do i have any grounds for an appeal?

additionally, in this case i represented myself. i see that the answers i have received say to consult my lawyer, however, i have not been able to afford one. more suggestions?

Yes, but this is an up hill battle. The laws are not really in your favor.

Have your attorney file a "stay judgment order" which should give you time to mount an appeal. There are nonprofit organizations out there to help you, do some searching for pro bono housing council.

you can appeal your case, but depends on how strong your summission could be to persuade the judge to give a leave to appeal. please consult your lawyer. if you have no any good grounds to appeal, its better you and the other party can come to a settlement outside the court.
