Do you vote for your own answer because it's yours or do you just be honest and vote for the best answer. I think it happens quite a lot.

Wow! I was seriously considering asking this very question! I'm new to Yahoo Q&A and didn't know if it's ok to vote for your own answer, or if it's a breach of some unwritten etiquette.
I personally look for the best answer to the question. Does it answer the question? Does it consider all aspects of the question (sometimes there's more than one part)? Is it thoughtful and sincere? Is it respectful of others' views, even if in disagreement with them? etc.
I have voted for my own answer in a number of cases but only because I thought my answer met the above criteria above and beyond what others have offered. But if someone else's answer meets the criteria (even if mine does, as well), I will vote for theirs instead.
In the event there is no "best answer," I vote for the one that makes me laugh. : )

I vote for the answer that best fits the question. Then I like to see how many people agreed with me. I wish more people would vote.

I usually pick the best answers, and I do sometimes genuinely believe mine is the best.
But I have voted for my own answers on occasion just get my score up!

I vote for my own whether it's the best anwser or not....I'm greedy I want the points even though all they do is prove how much I need a life.

Honestly, I look over all the answers (unless there's 8,700 of them, like Marylin what's-her-name's question) and, vote for the one that looks the smartest. I don't want to be embarrassed by having a stupid answer on my best answer list, when there was a better one there.
There's enough dumb answers there already.

I look for the best answer out of the possibles. Sometimes there is no best answer.
